A Storyteller Who Knows the Natural World

Debra knows the ocean environment first hand. Owner of a commercial fishing business from 1982 to 1990, she is also a former marine scientist specializing in marine plankton.

Her experience in land-based environmental services (8 years) includes landscape planning for an organic nursery, working as a field technician for an environmental services agency, and 3 years as a project manager for an environmental analytical laboratory.

She combines her scientific and business experience with over 12 years history as an educator, first at the New Hampshire Project Learning Tree, then developing and implementing programs for the Great Bay Stewards and Great Bay Kids' Ecology Club, and more recently as a storyteller and workshop leader.

When you realize that, in addition to her amazing subject matter expertise, Debra is also (according to Claudia Altemus, Madbury, NH) "a very competent and imaginative storyteller", you have the perfect combination of heart and mind to reach audiences with a passionate, enjoyable experience that also teaches important lessons about the environment - from the mountains to the sea.
